Beeline Uzbekistan has launched anti-spoofing technology, a system that prevents calls from fake numbers and protects against phone fraud and personal data leakage.
"Anti-spoofing" verifies the authenticity of the number: if a call is coming from abroad, not from a real user from Uzbekistan, but from a number that is only disguised as a local one (that is, with the prefix +998), the system blocks it.
Scammers use spoofed numbers in several ways. So, they often call from abroad, but "hide" under the landline number of a subscriber from Uzbekistan, the system sees this discrepancy and sends a call to the block. Another variant of deception: the call allegedly comes from the number of one of the mobile operators in Uzbekistan but is located abroad in roaming. The system checks with the operator in real time, where the device with a SIM card is located at that moment. If the operator's switching equipment shows that the subscriber is registered in the home network instead of abroad, then the call is also automatically blocked.
Verification of calls before the user receives an incoming call can significantly reduce the number of fraudulent calls and increase the security of mobile communications.
The introduction of anti-spoofing technology has become part of a large-scale program to combat telephone fraud in Uzbekistan, implemented at the initiative and with the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies. The solution works at the network level, does not require the installation of applications, and is activated for all Beeline Uzbekistan users automatically and free of charge.
